People in Hart are being urged to report flytipping as incidents soar during the pandemic.

Recently released statistics from DEFRA, the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs,

show there was an 83% rise from April to December in 2020, compared with the whole of the 2019/2020 financial year - when numbers DROPPED by 25%.

The district council warns that leaving items at local charity recycling banks, when they do not have space for them, is also classed as flytipping and leaves culprits open to prosecution.

The council says increased flytipping at these sites also puts these facilities at risk of closure.

It is reminding residents that excess cardboard will be collected if placed next to your blue recycling bin on collection days.

To check where your nearest recycling centre is and what items can be taken there, please check www.hart.gov.uk/my-area and enter your postcode.

If you see fly-tipping taking place, please report it by calling 01252 622122 and giving details of the incident including the location, vehicle registration and description of person(s).

If you come across dumped waste, please report it online at hart.fixmystreet.com. Photographic evidence can be attached to these reports.
