Snake injured during 'deliberate' outdoor fire in Surrey

Surrey Fire and Rescue were called out to Sheets Heath Common on Saturday

A number of reptiles have been impacted by a fire on a common near Woking which Surrey Fire and Rescue believe was started deliberately.

Fire crews were called to the blaze in Sheets Heath Common, near Brookwood on Saturday (12 April).

A spokesperson for the service said: "The fire has sadly impacted wildlife, including reptiles in the area.

"One injured snake is now in the hands of a local animal charity in Leatherhead."

The incident has been reported to Surrey Police.
