Fire breaks out at Farnham town centre restaurant

People have been asked to avoid the area throughout the morning.

Firefighters have been battling a blaze at a restaurant in Farnham.

Crews were called to Caffé Piccolo in West Street early this morning (11 November) and were working to save the building.

The blaze is now out, with damage reported to the ground floor, first floor and roof.

A spokesperson for Surrey Fire and Rescue Service said: “We received a call this morning around 05.15am to a report of a fire at Caffé Piccolo, West Street, Farnham.

“Five fire engines were sent in total, alongside an aerial ladder and multiple specialist vehicles. The first fire engine arrived at the scene around 05.25am.

“A fire had damaged the ground floor, first floor and roof of the caffé.

“The fire was tackled and crews began leaving the scene around 09.10am.”

The restaurant had been closed due to lockdown rules, but has still been offering a takeaway service.
