Winds are starting to top 70mph in parts of the country and forecast to get even stronger as Storm Eunice begins to hit the UK.

Surrey and East Hampshire is currently under the Met Office's highest red alert level meaning strong winds could endanger lives.

The storm is causing significant travel disruption especially on the trains.

Southern Rail is urging people not to travel today unless it is essential.

National Rail says a tree blocking the railway between Ewell West and Epsom means all lines are blocked.

A tree is also blocking the railway between Farnham and Aldershot meaning the line towards London is blocked.

Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Services are also suspended on South Western Railway between Guildford and Effingham Junction due to fallen tree on the line at London Road.

On the roads Victoria Way in Woking is closed this morning, owing to Storm Eunice.

The road will re-open between the Lockfield Drive and Goldsworth Road junctions when wind speeds return to a safe level.
