EXCLUSIVE: University Of Surrey Provost describes new ranking as a "really outstanding result" and says they are performing "every bit as well" as Russell Group Universities.
The University has ranked second in the UK for Student Experience and third in the South East.
The Provost of the University Of Surrey says they're performing "every bit as well" as Russell Group universities, with new rankings placing the university second in the country for student experience.
The Guildford-based establishment also ranks third in the Southeast according to the Sunday Times Good University Guide, and has been ranked 21st by the newspaper in their overall rankings of UK universities.
Speaking exclusively to Greatest Hits Radio Surrey and East Hampshire, University Of Surrey Provost and Senior Vice-President, Professor Tim Dunne, described the rankings as "a really outstanding result" and added that he believes the university is operating at the same level as Russell Group universities.
"Coming in and around the Top 20 is a really outstanding result and we're particularly proud that we have been ranked second in relation to the student experience. Because ultimately the most important ranking of all is what our students say about us and we've had a lot of success in that respect in recent years,
"It was always just a club of very strong universities admittedly, but that doesn't mean to say there aren't really good universities outside of it.
"We're not in the Russell Group, but we are demonstrating that we are performing every bit as well as the Russell Group on many indicators, which is why you'd find us in the Top 20 in most of the national rankings."
