East Hampshire car sellers leave 'lucky hardboiled egg' and single wellington boot inside for new owners
Many other things were left in cars sold through webuyanycar in 2022
The online car buying service, webuyanycar, has revealed some of the weird and wonderful items that were found left behind when people sold their cars in 2022.
The service has over 500 branches across the country, and branch managers have said they come across around five misplaced items a week, totally up to almost 130,000 forgotten items a year.
For residents in East Hampshire, a couple of weird items were found.
A customer from Fleet had left behind a 'lucky hardboiled egg' in their car, whilst a customer in Aldershot seemed to only need one shoe - leaving behind a single wellington boot!
Other items that were found in neighbouring areas included a set of golf clubs and a suitcase of fancy dress costumes from webuyanycar customers in Andover, with one London car even containing a wheelchair.
Items including a bible, £2000 and keys to a pub were also found.
One lucky customer could even have inherited a lovely photo of a llama from a car in Essex.
In Cornwall a bottle of champagne was found, loose cat litter was listed from Milton Keynes, and a dog was even left in a vehicle in Newcastle.
Branch managers said the dog was swiftly collected by his owner a short while later.
In Glasgow, the branch managers of webuyanycar provided some childcare, when both a mum and dad thought they had taken their baby out of the car - returning quickly in a panic when they realised they hadn't!
Richard Evans, head of technical services for webuyanycar, said: “Having bought more than 3 million cars over the years, it’s really no surprise our team comes across a few misplaced or forgotten items in cars. Webuyanycar strives to go above and beyond for our customers and sometimes that involves reuniting them with the strange things left behind by motorists.
“We do have a golden piece of advice for future customers: If you’ve just sold your car, have you checked to make sure you took everything out?!”
The most common items left behind are cables and chargers, with 85 percent of webuyanycar buyers saying they’ve come across these after a sale. CDs or cassettes were also high (72 percent), spare change (70 percent), dashcams (57 percent), keys (56 percent) shopping bags (54 percent) and child car seats at 31 percent also came in with higher numbers.
Webuyanycar branch managers also revealed that 69 percent of customers celebrate when they complete the sale of their car, with 92 percent going in for an enthusiastic handshake.
Seven percent of people break out into a little dance or jig and 5 percent go wild with an air punch.
