Community groups in need of funding in East Hampshire have been invited to apply for an upcoming event, where they'll be able to hear from and network with funding bodies - including the Arts Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and the East Hampshire District Council, among others.

Speaking to Greatest Hits Radio, Councillor Julie Butler told us it's the second time the event takes place in East Hampshire, after a successful one in 2019 that took place in Petersfield.

"We've been very keen to do another one as soon as possible. And actually now I would suggest, with funding not as easy to obtain because of limitations in charity events and everything else, it's probably even more important now than it was perhaps even then."

Local charities, to sports clubs, theatre companies or community outreach groups - just to name a few - are welcome to attend and hear from the six funding bodies that will be present on the day.

Local groups will also have the opportunity to have 1-2-1 conversations with a chosen funder, to discuss their projects and funding needs.

"There's a whole myriad of different areas of expertise there that will be able to help guide support. And we'll be able to point people in the right direction if they're not sure where they want to go. We're also offering one to one interviews with particular funders. And those ones will be on your specific projects that you actually have in mind."

Due to limited capacity at the Alton Community Centre, and to keep safe distance in place, those interested must fill out an application by the 4th February.

"We're still looking at keeping everybody safe, and making sure that we got enough space to keep safe distance. Spaces are limited, so we're asking each organisation to bring no more than two attendees."

You can find more information about the event, and how to apply, on the council's website.
