An investigation is underway after a dead cow was found in a car park in Guildford.

Surrey Police say the remains of the 14-month-old cow were left on a footpath and found by a member of the public in Bowers Lane on Monday (19 May).

A spokesperson for the force said: "We appreciate that this discovery will cause distress and concern within the local community, and we would like to reassure you that an investigation is underway to establish the circumstances of the cow’s death and identify those responsible."

Not fit for human consumption

A warning has also been issued as the cow had recently been given a medical treatment which means any meat that was removed from the animal is not fit for human consumption. Police are also strongly urging the public not to buy any unpackaged meat.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Surrey Police.
