Council urges people to think before visiting Hampshire's tips during lockdown
The authority has also given an update about other services
Recycling centres across Hampshire are to stay open during lockdown but there will be changes to a number of other services.
Civic chiefs confirmed that the recycling centres across Hampshire will stay open during the third national lockdown, but residents have been urged to consider whether their trip to the tip is necessary.
They will also have to book an appointment before visiting any of the tips across the county.
Cllr Rob Humby, executive member for economy, transport and environment at Hampshire County Council, said: “The sites will continue to accept as many of the usual household waste materials as they can while the onward market accepts them.
"However, I would ask that people consider if they really do need to make a trip to the tip at this time and, if they can, to either use their kerbside waste collections or store their waste safely at home until restrictions are lifted.”
Booking slots are available seven days in advance at each of the county council-run recycling centres.
Country parks across Hampshire, Hilliers Gardens and outdoor play area will remain open and normal opening hours and parking charges will apply.
However, indoor areas including visitor centres and shops will close, as well as the Chapel at Royal Victoria Country Park.
The county council’s Manor Farm animal attraction, which is located inside River Hamble Country Park, and Staunton Farm, located next to Staunton Country Park, and Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve will also be closed.
The authority said park cafes will be open for takeaway services and toilet facilities at all country parks will remain open.
All Hampshire libraries are also closed for browsing and fines are frozen but online services will continue to run.
County bosses have also said that essential highways maintenance will continue, including emergency pothole repairs, winter gritting, drainage cleansing and flood prevention work.
Outdoor sports facilities and gyms in the city are closed as well as the municipal golf course.
