Office managers in Surrey are being encouraged to make their workplaces more pet friendly, following a dramatic increase in ownership during the pandemic.

A survey's found having pets in the workplace would boost morale with 30% saying they think people would work better with a cat or a dog in the office to keep them company.

8 out of 10 workers say they can't take their pet to work with them - but the majority said they would if they could.

Top five ways in which Brits would like their office to be more pet friendly:

  1. Designated areas for pets such as a cattery or kennels (33%)
  1. Pet insurance (25%)
  1. Pawternity (paid leave after getting a pet) (23%)
  1. Treats and calming spray available throughout (23%)
  1. Ensure pet-friendly plants and flowers (22%)

Working with pets at home during lockdown provided several benefits which those questioned said would be equally welcomed into their office working space.

The main advantages were that having a dog or cat helped with mental health and gave people a reason to take a break and go for a walk.
