The 2024 Grand National takes place today (Saturday) at Aintree, an event which sees millions of people placing a bet on the runners and riders.

National Gambling Support Network, which GamCare is a part of, is urging those who may be struggling with gambling to contact their local service for free and confidential support and join over 28,000 people who have also been supported by the charity.

It comes as January witnessed the highest monthly number of calls to the National Gambling Helpline since it opened - with 4,816 calls and online chats made across the month.
