Cancer patients receiving care at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust will be taking to the catwalk later today to raise money for charity.

Around 20 patients getting treatment will turn into models in aid of the Fountain Centre which support those going through treatment with counselling, therapies and provides them with information.

They'll be showcasing the latest collections from Marks and Spencer during the event at The Mandolay Hotel in Guildford.

This is the first time they've been able to put on this fashion show in two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"All of the models will either be current cancer patients, or they will have just been through treatment and we make it really special for them. We have a DJ; we do hair and make-up," Maria Wakefield from the Fountain Centre said.

"It’s just a really feel-good event, if you have never been it’s like if a room had a heartbeat, it’s really palpable the way it lifts, you can feel it in the room.

"If I’m being completely honest there’s probably not one of them that would say they’re really looking forward to getting out there.

"However, what we find is once they get up there, once the crowd starts cheering their nerves just leave them."

Tickets priced at £20 are still available for the show, just visit the Fountain Centre's web page.
