A burst water has left hundreds of people without running water in Chertsey.

Its affecting people in the KT16 KT17 and Gu25 area.

It's also causing traffic problems with three roads having been shut while repair work is carried out by Affinity Water.

The road closures are as follows:

  1. St Peter's Way (A320) from and to Junction 11 of the M25 and Guildford Road Roundabout.
  1. Guildford Road from and to the St Peter's Way roundabout to the hospital roundabout.
  1. Guildford Road - from the St Peter's Way roundabout to the Murray Road (B3121) roundabout. (This is likely to be closed for a few days while Affinity Water works to fix the burst pipe today and reinstate the road.)

Those who live in the area who still have running water are being asked to only use it for essential purposes.

Affinity Water published the following statement on their website:

"If you have water, please avoid using your washing machine, dishwasher, and other non-essential use. This makes a big difference in helping to make sure we have enough drinking water to go around, especially for vulnerable customers.

"We’re also advising customers that still have water to fill bottles or their kettle with water for drinking in case we need to switch off the water to complete the repair.

"We’re really sorry for any inconvenience."
