'Do not drink' tap water notice in Bramley could be lifted in early July
More than 600 properties have been affected since
A 'do not drink' tap water notice in Bramley could be lifted in early July, say Thames Water.
The water company says it follows the end of pipe replacement works on Station Road, as part of its response to an historic fuel spill in the village.
The notice was first issued to 621 households on 31 May after a deterioration in the water supply was detected as part of regular testing since October 2023.
Thames Water say "extensive testing" of the new pipe will now take place, but that the 'do not drink' notice will only be lifted once there is "no risk" to people's health from drinking it.
The company also warns the "widespread nature" of the fuel leak means the problem may never be entirely solved.
People living in Bramley are being asked to run their kitchen taps for between five and ten minutes each day to help move water around property's internal plumbing.
Thames Water say it is "perfectly normal" if the water appears brown at first, as this will disappear after a few minutes.
All road closures, including of Station Road, have now been lifted following the completion of the works.
