Surrey Police are investigating after a six year old boy was hit by an HGV.

Officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident, at the junction between the A245 Kingston Road and Randalls Road, near the BP petrol station, at around 5pm yesterday afternoon (14 April).

The boy, who was with his family at the time of the incident, was taken to hospital by air ambulance with what police say are believed to be life-changing leg injuries.

The driver, who stopped at the scene, has not been arrested, and is helping police with the investigation.

The A245 was closed to traffic while specialist investigators were on the scene.

Police are asking the public not speculate on the cause of the collision.

They also want to speak to everyone who saw or heard the crash - in particular anyone who was filling up at the BP petrol station; or has dash-cam or helmet-cam footage from the immediate area between 4:40pm and 5:10pm, which may show the victim or HGV involved.

Anyone with information or footage that they believe may assist the investigation is asked to contact Surrey Police using the online chat on the Surrey Police website (surrey.police.uk) or by calling 101, quoting ref PR/45210038320.
