Asbestos is being fly tipped across Hart
The council have described the issue as “a blight on the district”
Hart District Council have reported a spate of asbestos being dumped illegally in the area.
Over the past month the majority of 21 fly-tipping incidents in the district have involved the material.
In a statement the council said: “Asbestos fly-tips are costly and require specialist contractors to remove.
“Fly-tipping is a blight on the district, and residents can play their part to help prevent it.
“These incidents have been happening through the daytime and on busy roads.”
They have urged the public to report any situation in which waste being dumped illegally is witnessed.
The authority added: “Descriptions of offenders, vehicles used (including the make, model, registration, and colour).
“Before action can be taken the person reporting it will need to have witnessed the rubbish being dumped and be willing to provide a witness statement.
“If you have video or photographic evidence of the incident or the waste that has been fly-tipped then that all helps.”
If you come across dumped waste, you can report it online.
If you see fly-tipping take place you are asked to call the council on 01252 622122 and give the details of the incident including the location, vehicle registration and description of the person.
