Robbers reportedly carrying a knife have tried to snatch a bike from a young girl in Ashford.

Police say the 9 year old was targeted at around 1pm on Sunday (17 March) as she waited for her mum outside a barber shop on Church Road.

A second incident took place at around 2pm as two youths on an e-bike tried to snatch a woman’s handbag from behind as she walked along Church Road.

As she moved her bag out of the way, the victim says that she saw something shiny in the hands of the suspects which she described as a knife. The suspects rode off empty handed.

The suspects have been described as three White males in their teens wearing balaclavas and all black. One was also wearing a navy jacket which had fur around the hood.

Investigating officer, Detective Sergeant Rob Way, said: “We would like to reassure residents that we are doing all we can to find those responsible for these attempted robberies. These are fairly rare occurrences but we will be stepping up officer patrols in the area.”
