Drivers are being asked to avoid the A3 in Guildford following a "serious incident".

Emergency services were called to a collision involving a van and another vehicle just after 3pm.

One of the drivers has suffered serious injuries and has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

It was shut completely in both directions near Burpham earlier this afternoon between the junction for the A320 Woking Road at the Stoke Crossroads and the A3100 Clay Lane.

The A3 northboung carriageway remains closed but the southbound carriageway is clear and traffic is dispersing,

Reports from the scene say "a van travelling Northbound has overturned and gone through on the Southbound side".

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the collision, particularly anyone with dashcam or helmet cam footage of the incident.
