A 12-year-old boy from Surrey is doing 10,000 press-ups to raise money for a local charity.

Tom Hunt is seeking to raise 1 pound for every press up he does - with all the money going to Home-Start Spelthorne.

The charity, where his mum works, offers regular support, friendship and practical help to young families under stress in their own homes, thus helping to prevent family breakdown.

So far, Tom has raised over £7000 - just £3000 away from his target.

The schoolboy is trying to attract donations by documenting his progress of the challenge - which is set to take him 6 months - on Instagram and TikTok.

Tom Hunt tells us more about his press-up challenge:

"I heard about Home-Start Spelthorne who help young families with children in need and I decide to raise money to help them.

"Every little really does help. Our target was £1000, but we've absolutely smashed that so we've raised the target to £10,000- and we're at £7533 pounds, so three quarters of the way there.

"I actually injured my shoulder mid way through the challenge which was quite difficult but the hardest thing has been finding the time to do and then post them, because I am quite busy.

"But I'm doing this work and I think its so hard that these parents are out here struggling and I'm helping them so I think that's good.

"My Instagram account is "tomhunt_10000 and then if you want to donate you can donate through a link in my bio."
