11-year-old girl approached by suspicious man in Godalming

Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage following a suspicious incident where an 11 year old girl was approached by a man in Godalming.

She was was walking along Petworth Road at around midday yesterday afternoon (26 July) when a car pulled up on the other side of the road as she was approaching Cherry Tree Recreation Ground.

A man got out of the car and crossed the road towards her, trying to engage her in conversation.

The girl ignored him and he left and got back in his car.

The man is described as white, around 45-50 years old with dark hair, clean shaven and had a British accent.

His car is described as being grey-blue in colour with two doors.
