Since the 1st of January this year Surrey Police have received over 100 reports of doorstep crime.

64% of victims lived on their own with the average age targeted around 80.

Doorstep callers often show up unannounced and try to pressure people into getting work done on their house.

Driveways, gutters, and trees are just some of the jobs they offer to do at a discounted price with many delivering poor quality work and in some cases not doing the work at all with the average loss of around £10,000 per person.

Surrey Police are asking people to help stop this crime by looking out for neighbours, friends and family and by reporting anything suspicious.

The force are also holding a free webinar on Tuesday, 24th September between 1pm and 2pm.
