Plans to light up at 26ft high bronze statue, that sits in the heart of the Suffolk countryside, have been given the go ahead.

The 'Yoxman', which was created by artist Laurence Edwards, was installed in 2021 in the grounds of Cockfield Hall at Yoxford.

East Suffolk Council has now approved an application to illuminate the giant naked figure at night.

The plan had faced opposition from Yoxford Parish Council, who feared the lights would distract drivers on the nearby A13.

However councillors have given the go ahead on the condition that the lights are switched off being 11pm and dusk the following day.

If the Yoxman statue is ever removed the lighting would also have to be disposed of.
