A woman's avoided being sent to prison after admitting to causing death by careless driving in Kesgrave.
Lisa Meckelsen, who's 34 and Trimley St Martin, was given a six month sentence, suspended for two years, in connection with a crash in June 2019.
On Friday 7th June 2019, at around 7pm, Suffolk Police was called to a serious crash on Bell Lane in Kesgrave involving an Audi A6 and a Honda 125 motorcycle.
Father-of-two, Craig Bedford, was the rider of the motorbike.
The 37 year-old from Quebec Drive in Kesgrave died in hospital following the crash.
Meckelsen, who was driving the Audi, first appeared in court in March 2021 and admitted to causing death by careless driving.
An investigation by the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Suffolk Police found that Lisa Mickelsen was on Foxhall Road turning right onto Bell Lane.
In doing so her vehicle collided with the oncoming motorcycle being ridden by Craig Bedford. Mr Bedford was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries.
Sergeant Barry Abbott from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Suffolk Police said: "Nothing can make up for the loss of Mr Bedford and our thoughts remain with Mr Bedford's family and friends.
"Collisions like this ruin so many lives. Sadly, such is their vulnerability, motorcyclists are disproportionally seriously injured or as in this case tragically killed.
"As the roads, particularly now are getting busier, we have a collective responsibility to look out for one another on the roads and stay safe."
Mickelsen also has to complete 150 hours unpaid work and has been disqualified from driving for 18 months.
