A police investigation is underway and a woman has been arrested, after the death of a man in Haverhill.

Officers were called by the ambulance service at 7.53pm yesterday, Tuesday 2 December, to reports a man had suffered serious injuries at an address in Lordscroft Lane.

The ambulance service attended, and a man aged in his 50s was initially treated for serious injuries, however he sadly died a short time later.

The man’s death is currently unexplained. Enquiries are at an early stage but currently it is being treated as suspicious. A Home Office post-mortem examination is expected to take place in due course.

A 61-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where she currently remains.

At this early stage of the investigation, it is believed that the woman arrested and the deceased are known to each other and police are not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident.

A police scene is in place at the premises on Lordscroft Lane while enquiries continue.
