Visiting restrictions relaxed at hospitals across Norfolk and Waveney
It comes as Covid-19 case rates have started to drop off

Visiting restrictions are being eased at hospitals across Norfolk and in the Waveney district of Suffolk.
New national guidance and a drop in Covid-19 infection rates means patients are now allowed one visitor a day for up to an hour.
Slots have to booked in advance and guests will still be expected to wear masks and keep to social distancing while on hospital grounds.
Cath Byford, chief nurse for NHS Norfolk and Waveney Clinical Commissioning Group said: “We would like to send a big thank you to local people for supporting us and following the guidelines and visiting restrictions at our hospitals during what has been a difficult period for everyone."
“After careful consideration we have made the decision to reintroduce visiting in a controlled way which still allows us to maintain the safety of our patients and staff, and reduce the risk of the virus spreading within our hospitals.
“We continue to practise social distancing, the wearing of face coverings and thorough hand hygiene.”
“We know that the Omicron variant is easily transmissible, therefore, we are asking visitors to continue to follow these guidelines to help keep our patients and staff safe."
Restrictions on visiting have been in place since last November after a surge un Covid-19 infections.
However there were exceptions for those visiting people getting end of life care, couples expecting babies, parents of children and those seeing patients with mental health difficulties.
