Two teenagers charged after machete attack in Ipswich

The victim has since been discharged from hospital

Two teenage boys have been charged after a man was attacked with a machete in Ipswich.

It happened at around 4pm on Saturday (August 6) in the grounds of the Gainsborough Sports Centre on Braziers Wood Road.

Police were called to reports a man was assaulted by a group of men or boys wearing balaclavas, who then fled the scene.

A man in his 20s was treated in hospital for arm and hip injuries, but has since been discharged.

The boys, aged 15 and 16 and from Ipswich, have been charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public space.

They've been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Ipswich Magistrates Court today (August 8)

Suffolk Police say they'll have more officers in the area of the attack over the coming weeks.
