Two men have been jailed for a combined total of over five years for their links to Class A drug dealing in Ipswich.

22 year old Abdulkadir Ali of Ditton Road in Southall was handed a 42 month sentence after being found guilty of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.

19 year old Ruben Rehman, of Belgrave Road in Ilford, was jailed for 22 months at Ipswich Crown Court after admitting to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

The pair were apprehended after Rehman was discovered by police at the home of a vulnerable person in Ipswich.

It's believed the address was being used to deal drugs, a practice known as 'cuckooing'.

He was found to be in constant communication with Ali, with whom he was arranging the supply of Class A drugs as part of a 'county line' operation.

Police found Ali was getting orders for Class A drugs from Ipswich, which he was then passing to Rehman.

Investigating officer DC Eilish Currie said: ”The guilty verdict and the sentence is an important win for Suffolk police and the Metropolitan Police in their ongoing battle against County Lines drug dealing to the Ipswich area."

"Ali could provide no substantial defence to prove his innocence in the supply of Class A drugs, choosing instead to boil all evidence put to him down to a mere coincidence.

"Alongside the guilty plea already submitted by Ali's co-defendant Rehman there was no other choice today than to find Mr Ali guilty.

“I would hope that this case highlights that Suffolk police are taking offending of this nature seriously and are working proactively and effectively to keep their county safe."
