Two people have died, after a road traffic collision in Long Melford last week.

Police were called at 3.50pm on Friday 28 April, to reports of a collision involving a car and a cement mixer lorry on the B1064 Sudbury Road, at the roundabout junction with the A134.

The driver and front seat passenger of the car were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extracted by Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service.

The pair – a man and a woman both aged in their 80s - were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, where they both sadly died yesterday, Sunday 30 April, despite the best efforts of medical personnel.

Officers would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision, and are also asking any motorists driving in the area at the time with a dashcam in their vehicle to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Joint Norfolk & Suffolk Serious Collision Investigation Unit, quoting reference: 37/24691/23.
