A man who died following a motorbike crash near Witnesham has been described as 'the brightest of stars'.

47 year old Gavin Douglas died at the end of May, following a single vehicle crash on the B1077.

Police were called just before 1.45pm on Saturday 27 May, to reports of a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on the B1077.

The East of England Ambulance Service and air ambulance were also in attendance, but the driver of the motorcycle was declared dead at hospital.

Subject to confirmation at formal inquest proceedings, the deceased has been identified as Gavin Douglas from Ipswich.

"He was the brightest of stars"

His family have now released a tribute:

"Saturday, 27th May 2023, will forever be etched in our minds as the day we tragically lost our most beloved son and brother, Gavin.

"The magnitude of this loss has left an enormous hole in our hearts as he was a larger-than-life character in our family. Gavin's absence is deeply felt, and the love and longing for him are immeasurable.

"Throughout his life, we have always held immense pride in him. Family was everything to Gavin and the time we all spent together held a special place in his and our hearts.

"Gavin had a natural talent for mechanics alongside his lifelong passion for motorbikes and cars. Gavin was at his most happy on his bike or with his head under a bonnet covered in grease whilst he listened to his favourite tunes.

"We deeply mourn his loss and remember him as an integral part of our lives. He was the brightest of stars and we miss him terribly."
