Ipswich Town Women have appointed Lauren Phillips as their new assistant.

Phillips was previously first-team technical coach at Championship club Southampton.

Town are currently top of the third-tier table from Hashtag United on goal difference with two games in hand.

She stated to the club's website: “There’s massive ambition here. The growth of the club and the investment into the team made the project really exciting for me to be a part of.

“There’s a really good, young squad here which has huge potential, and they are showing those traits at the moment with an unbeaten run in the league.

“I now can’t wait to get back on the grass again. As a coach you always want to work towards the game at the weekend and we’re fortunate that we’re straight in against Manchester City on Sunday.”
