Three men have been jailed for a combined 12 years for their roles in selling Class A drugs in Ipswich.

The trio were arrested in 2021 on suspicion of running a 'county lines' network and all later admitted to being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, worth an estimated street value of £140,000.

27 year old Lloyd Agyekum, from Islington; 25 year old Quin Byrne, of no fixed address and 46 year old Jason Mohammed from Clacton were sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court to six, four and a half and two years respectively.

Byrne was identified as the ‘local commander’ for the line, directing the sale of drugs in the Ipswich area. Mohammed was used as a ‘runner’ – the person sent out to go and make the deals.

. Agyekum, of Turpin Way in Islington, was found to be the ‘line holder’ who was involved in supplying the drugs from London.

Detective Constable James Lait, of Suffolk's Serious Crime Disruption Team, said:

“There were many interconnected investigations that led to putting these men before the court, which required collaboration between the SCDT, the local SNT and colleagues in the Metropolitan Police.

“These three men represent the different layers at which County Lines operate. Their varying levels of culpability are reflected in the different lengths of their prison terms, but all three played their part in this criminal enterprise.

“People such as Lloyd Agyekum sit higher up the chain and probably think they put enough distance between themselves and the dealing on the street to evade capture.

"This example clearly proves that is not the case and we are committed to dismantling these networks from the bottom all the way to the top.”
