Three charged after two Ipswich cannabis factories discovered

Around 250 plants were found in a four storey town house

Three men have been charged following the discovery of two cannabis factories in Ipswich.

Officers conducted a vehicle stop on Cavendish Street, Ipswich on Tuesday 4 April that revealed the car was carrying items consistent with the production of cannabis. Enquiries led to an address on Willoughby Road, Ipswich where 117 small cannabis plants and 123 mature cannabis plants were being cultivated over three of the four storeys of the town house.

Further enquiries led officers to a flat in Churchman’s House, Portman Road, Ipswich where officers forced entry after seeing signs of a second cannabis grow and believed an occupant was within. Upon entering the address on Portman Road, officers discovered around 83 small cannabis plants and 71 mature plants.

Three males were arrested and taken to Martlesham Heath Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Hamit Velia, aged 19 years old and of Portman Road in Ipswich was charged with production of cannabis and being concerned in the production of cannabis.

Euglen Aliaj, aged 25 years old and of Dunlop Road in Ipswich, was charged with being concerned in the production of cannabis, driving with no insurance and driving with no licence.

Endri Rredhi, aged 33 and of Redi Close in Ipswich, was charged with concerned in the production of cannabis and possession of cocaine.

All three males were remanded in custody to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Wednesday 5th April.
