Three arrested after fight with weapons in Bury St Edmunds

Police were called to Lake Avenue yesterday - after reports of a person armed with a hammer

Three people have been arrested after a fight involving weapons in Bury St Edmunds yesterday.

Police, including armed officers, were called to Lake Avenue at around 3pm, after reports of a group of people fighting.

At least one person was seen to be armed with a hammer.

A man in his 50s was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured cheek bone and lacerations to his face.

A 43-year-old man from the Sudbury area and a 16-year-old boy from Bury St Edmunds have been questioned on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon.

A 46 year old man from Bury St Edmunds was arrested this morning on suspicion of affray.

Police are urging witnesses, or anyone with any information, to get in touch.
