Teenager remains in critical condition following Haverhill stabbing
A 16 year old's been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder
A sixteen year old boy remains in hospital in a critical condition following a stabbing in Haverhill.
The incident occurred at just after 3pm on Monday, in a car park next to Strasbourg Square.
An altercation is reported to have taken place between two teenage boys during which one of them was stabbed.
The suspect then fled the scene, believed to have run off in the direction of Millfields Way.
The victim, a 16-year-old boy, was initially taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment, before being transferred to the Royal Papworth Hospital.
He remains there in a critical condition, having sustained life-threatening injuries.
A 16-year-old boy from the Haverhill area was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder shortly after the incident.
Detectives believe the victim and suspect knew each other and say it was an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.
The family of the victim and some witnesses are being supported by specialist trained liaison officers.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident and would like to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Strasbourg Square, Ingham Road or Millfields Way, A143 or High Street between 2.30pm and 3.45pm and saw anything that may be of assistance.
They are also appealing for anyone who may have captured any video footage on a mobile phone of the incident, or who has seen any videos circulating on social media or being shared in messaging groups, to come forward.
