Suspected mortar bombs have been dug up on a construction site in Bury St Edmunds.

Suffolk Police were called to Dettingen Way around 7:30am this morning, following reports a number of suspected bombs had been discovered

A 100m cordon was put in place, encompassing part of the industrial estate and involving the evacuation of some buildings in the zone.

An army bomb disposal team attended and examined the items, deeming them safe to remove and have taken them away. No detonations were required.

All cordons have been lifted and the area is now operating as normal.
