Suffolk Fire Crews spend over 5 hours tackling woodland blaze
A large woodland blaze broke out near Mildenhall this morning
Multiple fire crews have been tackling a significant blaze that broke out in woodland near Barton Mills, close to Mildenhall, early this morning.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the scene at 04:42 BST, where approximately four hectares (9.9 acres) of land were found to be alight.
Fire crews from Elmswell, Haverhill, and Bury St Edmunds responded swiftly, supported later in the morning by a tanker from RAF Lakenheath, which arrived at 08:50 to assist with the effort.
A spokesperson for Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said there have been no reports of casualties.
Crews are expected to remain on site throughout the day to ensure the fire is fully contained and to monitor for any potential flare-ups.
As of the latest update, crews are still surrounding the site as firefighting operations continue.
