An Ipswich travel agent says she's re-organised some of her customers' holidays, which were planned for to Rhodes before the wildfires broke out

Greek authorities say at least 19,000 people have been evacuated so far.

Andrea Powel owns Idelo Travel in Ipswich and told us she understands why people want to change their holidays: "If you're caught up in it and stuck with no information, that's not good... and can be really scary...

"It hasn't been a grand experience for anyone involved. There was a slow response from UK travel companies, which has led to a huge amount of uncertainty and worry for people."

She agrees with airlines' decision to cancel upcoming flights to the area: "Everyone has to take a breath, evaluate and work out how best to go again."

What about refunds?

Andrea told us that those who've had their holidays cancelled by airlines should expect a refund, but there's no guarantee they can get a similar holiday for the same price:

"It depends on what your situation is - whether you just really want to get away and get some sun...

"Whether money is tight and you're just going to make do and put any refund you get towards making sure that you do something next year and get that sorted."

She also said that those who cancelled their own holidays are likely to have a more difficult time getting a refund and should read the fine print to see what can be done.

Andrea went on to say how Idelo Travel is on a forum with other travel agents getting updates on the situation.
