West Suffolk Swimmer called up to compete with Team GB in Paris 2024 Olympics
The 21-year-old is part of the 33-strong team selected to represent Great Britain in the French capital.
A member of West Suffolk's Swimming Club has been called up to compete with Team GB in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Angharad Evans, who's from Little Abington Near Haverhill first gained her senior recognition with a bronze medal at the 2019 British Summer Championships.
The 21-year-old is now part of the 33-strong team selected to represent Great Britain in the French capital.
Angharad told us: " I have been swimming since I was around nine or ten years old, but I've really had my mind on this for the last year, it's been my goal in training - everything in my training has been focussed towards this, it is definitely like a full time job."
"I have dreamt of getting that email for such a long time, and when I finally got it my dreams were coming true, and I could see everything falling into place for everything I have worked so hard for."
"I thought there would be like a burst of excitement and emotion but i was just in shock, I was definitely speechless."
"When you get that taste for success when you're so young, you don't want it to stop and it is very addictive seeing your hard work really play out, and getting the results you want after putting so much work in, especially with swimming there is lots of early mornings, lots of training."
Among the athletes selected are three-time Olympic Champion Adam Peaty, two time- Olympic Champions Tom Dean and James Guy, Olympic Champions Anna Hopkin, Kathleen Dawson, Freya Anderson and Matt Richards and Duncan Scott, who claimed a record four medals at the Tokyo Games.
Team GB Chef de Mission Mark England said: “Team GB has a proud tradition in Olympic swimming competitions, and I am delighted to welcome all 33 athletes to the team for Paris 2024.
"The strength and depth of our pool swimming team was evident to see at the recent Aquatics GB Swimming Championships, and along with the ten swimmers making their debut for Team GB it is fantastic to welcome back seven Olympic Champions and nine Olympic medallists."
