Suffolk Police is urging people to be aware of their possessions when out and about following a spate of distraction thefts at the weekend.

On Saturday 16th January, a woman in her 50s had her purse taken from a rucksack hanging on her trolley at the Sainsburys in Felixstowe Road, Ipswich.

It happened some time between 12.20pm and 1.30pm.

Another incident took place on the same day at the Tesco at Copdock Interchange - a woman in her 60s had hung her bag on the hook on the trolley and later noticed her purse had been taken.

Just before 4pm on Saturday at the Tesco in Ropes Drive, Kesgrave, a woman in her 60s was shopping and at some point her purse was taken from her handbag.

Police are asking anyone with information about any of the incidents to come forward.
