Four Suffolk firefighters are attempting to break three world records today (Sunday, 22 September).

They're taking on the Ipswich half marathon in different types of fire fighting equipment including running in full PPE and using a breathing apparatus set.

The challenge is being done in honour and memory of colleagues they have lost and raise funds for both Cancer Research UK and the Firefighters Charity.

The challenge will see one member of the team running in full PPE and continuously breathing air from their breathing apparatus set.

Two members of the team running in full firefighting protective equipment.

The final member of the team running in physical training kit, whilst wearing a breathing apparatus set.

Completing a distance of 21km within the required time in each category will see 3 new world records by the team.

The team includes Crew Manager Paul Shattock, Firefighters Grant Whitehead, Ashley Buxton and George Trott.

Grant Whitehead told us more about Firefighter Trevor Bryson who they are running in memory of:

"One of the best people you could ever meet and I mean a genuine fantastic person who was always there, so funny and a very good firefighter who knew his job inside and out."

Meanwhile Crew Manager Paul Shattock told us how he intends to deal with the heat from wearing his full kit:

"Ice packs down the back of my neck, water being poured down internally and putting my wrists into buckets of water if I feel my temperature getting too hot."
