Suffolk festival Rhythms Sans Frontières cancelled due to poor ticket sales
Organisers have apologised after the Euston Park event was called off
A Suffolk music festival which promised an 'eclectic line-up of global artists and speakers' has been cancelled due to poor ticket sales.
Rhythms Sans Frontières was due to take over Euston Park, near Thetford, from the 1st to the 3rd of July.
The event was brand new and promised to combine performances from global artists with a range of workshops and guest speakers.
Acts signed up included Yaya Bey, The Turbans and The London Afrobeat Collective.
The event aimed to raise money for a range of charities and NGOs, including Amnesty International and Medecines Sans Frontieres.
In a statement on their website, Rhythms Sans Frontières organisers said:
"This has been a very difficult decision for us, and we offer our most sincere apologies to all of you.
"As a brand new addition to the UK festival calendar, amidst a backdrop of the rising cost of living and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have reluctantly arrived at the conclusion that with our present ticket sale levels, we could be at significant risk of not meeting the costs to stage the event.
"We felt it was wiser to cancel this event now than to adopt a ‘hope for the best’ approach."
Festival bosses say they will honour refunds in line with the terms and conditions of ticket sales provider Skiddle.
