The Contact and Control Room at Suffolk Constabulary has been presented with an award from the High Sheriff of Suffolk for all their hard work over the past 18 months.

Today (9 September) is national Emergency Services 999 Day and the High Sheriff of Suffolk Edward Creasy presented staff in the CCR with a certificate for their outstanding service to the community during the Covid pandemic.

Mr Edward Creasy, High Sheriff of Suffolk said:

"999 day in 2021 is a particularly important date, given the extraordinary work that the emergency services have achieved for our county in the challenging circumstances of the pandemic. It is a great opportunity to recognise what they have done and to offer them all our support and thanks. The rapidity of response and the courtesy shown when we most need it should never be ignored or taken for granted.”

Superintendent Kerry Cutler said:

"2020 and 2021 has been a roller coaster of a ride and the CCR staff and officers have remained at work throughout ensuring 999 calls are answered and have worked exceptionally hard. They are a small team delivering an essential service to the community, and like the community have had to face the challenges of the pandemic both in work and out of work. This award is testimony to all the hard work, professionalism, compassion and empathy they have shown. I am extremely proud of them all.”

Police and Crime Commissioner for Suffolk Tim Pass more said:

"Suffolk Constabulary rose to the challenge of Covid 19 in a truly remarkable manner and on this 999 Day I would like to express my thanks to them for all they do - in short it has been a superb team effort across the whole force.

"Those working in the Constabulary’s control room maintained this vital emergency call service throughout the lockdown and I was delighted to join the High Sherriff to meet with Supt Cutler for an update on this work. I am full of admiration for all of those involved in our blue light services for their commitment to all of us across Suffolk to keep us safe."
