Suffolk Police warning over bogus charity collectors
It's after an elderly lady had all the money in her purse stolen in Sudbury
Suffolk Police has issued a warning over bogus charity collectors, after an elderly lady in Sudbury had the entire contents of her purse stolen.
She was asked by two women carrying clipboards to make a donation, but while being distracted by one of them, the theft happened.
In a statement, officers added: 'The incident happened on 20 November outside the Lady Elizabeth pub at around 1.30pm. The victim, in her 80s and in a wheelchair, was approached by two women described as white, aged between late teens and early 20s and wrapped up in coats and scarves. Both were slim with blonde hair and one might have worn glasses.
'Genuine collectors will carry proper accreditation from the charity they represent.
'Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any images that can help the inquiry is asked to contact Suffolk Police and quoting crime reference 37/66302/21'
