Two charged over Stowmarket stabbing
A man remains in hospital
Two people have been charged in connection with a stabbing in Stowmarket.
It happened around 11am on Sunday 2 February, when police were called to reports that a man had been attacked in Leveret Gardens.
The victim – a man in his 20s – was taken to hospital for treatment, where he currently remains in a stable condition.
Suffolk Police tell us its officers immediately began to make enquiries and located a suspect vehicle in Ipswich, which was stopped on Norwich Road at 11.35am on Sunday.
A 60-year-old woman was subsequently arrested.
50 minutes later, at 12.25pm officers visited an address on Grimwade Street in Ipswich, where they arrested a 26-year-old man.
Both suspects were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and have now been charged as follows:
• Simon Jones, of Freehold Road, Needham Market; charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm; and possession of a knife in a public place;
• Nicola Jones, also of Freehold Road, Needham Market; charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The pair have been remanded in custody and are due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday 4 February.
