Plans for new sports and wellbeing centre in Stowmarket submitted
It would go on land surrounding Stowmarket High School and Chilton Fields
Plans for a new sports and wellbeing centre in Stowmarket have taken a major step forward with a full application being submitted for approval.
The site will encompass two bits of land in the northwest of Stowmarket – surrounding Stowmarket High School and Chilton Fields.
The hub is expected to include a sports pavilion, two multi-use games areas, four indoor sports courts, a wellbeing site, a 3G football pitch, a mini athletics track and a children’s play area.
The full planning application will be considered by Mid Suffolk District Council at a later date.
Dave Lee-Allan, headteacher, Stowmarket High School commented: “I am delighted that we have reached this major milestone with the submission of the planning application."
"The opportunities for students and the local community to access a range of sports and wellbeing facilities will be vastly improved and will benefit local people for many years to come.”
Tony Bush, head of operations, Active Suffolk commented: “The new sport and leisure facilities for Stowmarket will open up opportunities for clubs to develop while encouraging more people to get active."
"The process up to this point has allowed many people to share their views and I am pleased that much of the feedback has helped shape this planning application.”
