Stowmarket man bailed as Peterborough murder investigation continues

Police appeal for information following Gladstone Street death

A 37-year-old man from Stowmarket, Suffolk, who was arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail as detectives continue their investigation into a death in Peterborough.

Police launched the murder investigation following reports received around 10.45am Wednesday (4th February) regarding an unconscious man at a property in Gladstone Street, Millfield.

The victim, a 50-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Currently, a 31-year-old man from Peterborough remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Inwood from the Major Crime Unit addressed local residents' concerns:

“I understand this is likely to be concerning for residents, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information relevant to this investigation.”

Inwood added that specialist officers have been appointed to support the deceased man's family and friends.
