A star studded cast of comedians is looking to raise the roof and money for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices this evening.

Stephen Fry, Eddie Izzard and Johnny Vegas will be joining Griff Rhys Jones for an event in Ipswich that was cancelled last year but raised in excess of £70 thousand pounds in 2019.

Kevin Clements is EACH's Director of Fundraising, he says it's certainty a highlight in the calendar: "To have an event like this with so many household names all doing it for free to raise money for EACH, we are very lucky. It's sold out for obvious reasons and it's probably one of the best things to happen to us in a while.

"Fundraisers like these help to keep the hospices going, we're very reliant on them. They also help to create a great sense of community, we found that so many people missed doing them. So it's great to be back."

He also told us that while Covid posed its challenges the show goes on: "There was the addition challenge of making sure there was enough space for people along with sanitising stations and masks. That added another layer of challenge, but we coped pretty well and the community got behind us so well."

He concluded by saying he'd love to do this all again in 2022: "Hopefully we'll have lots of exciting events lined up for next year as well. We're yet to discuss the possibility of doing this again next year, but this is the second time that Griff has done it for us, so you just never know."

The East Anglia's Children's Hospices offer care to young people in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex.
