Ipswich Town forward Sone Aluko is nearing a return to the pitch having been sidelined with a knee and hamstring injury since September.

The 33 year old has since recovered from surgery and has been in training this week.

He could be in contention as soon Saturday with the visit of Peterborough to Portman Road.

Speaking to the ITFC website, boss Kieran McKenna said: "It's a big boost to have him back out there and he has trained well all week."

"We still have one more session, but there is a chance he'll make his way back into the matchday squad.

"He's in good condition and he looks fit. If he does make the squad, we'll make a call on if he'll start or if he'll provide an impact from the bench.

"Even though he's been aorund the training ground, it's not the same as having him back in the dressing room and on the training pitch.

"We've missed him in games as well, so it's great to have him back."
