Police have launched an urgent appeal for information after a serious sexual assault on a teenage girl in Ipswich last night.

It happened between 10pm on February 15 and 1am this morning in an alleyway between St Stephens Church Lane and Upper Brook Street in the town centre.

The victim is now being supported by specialist officers.

A cordon is in place at the scene, while officers are reviewing CCTV taken in the area at the time.

Additional patrols are being carried out today and police are appealing for anyone with information to get in touch.
