Police confirm passenger killed in A14 crash at Coddenham

Suffolk Police has confirmed a male passenger in a car involved in a collision on the A14 westbound at Coddenham this morning has died at the scene.

Officers were called to the crash involving a lorry and a car just before 5am this morning (2nd April) on the westbound carriageway.

The lorry driver was unhurt, and another passenger and the driver of the car sustained minor injuries.

Police say the male driver of the car has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and taken into custody.

The road will remain closed between junction 51 and junction 50 westbound while investigations are carried out to establish the cause of the crash.

The closure's expected to remain in place for some time.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police on 101 quoting CAD 40.

Diversion route

A diversion is in place and road users are being advised to allow extra time for any journey's in the area.

Westbound: Follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol and exit the A14 at J52 (Claydon) on to the B1113.

Continue on the B1113 through Great Blakenham and Needham Market until the junction with the A1120.

At the junction turn right and continue on the A1120 to rejoin the A14 at J50.
